Boutros Harb declares investigation of Hindi 'null and illegal'
Batroun MP Boutros Harb condemned on Monday the illegal investigation of Toufic Hindi, the detained senior Lebanese Forces official accused of collaborating with Israel.
Harb, who is also a lawyer, claimed that allegations brought against Hindi are nullified because they were not carried out in accordance with the Constitution.
The MP scoffed at the broadcast of Hindi's taped 'confession,' in which the detainee mentioned Qornet Shehwan, claiming it was a government attempt to indirectly implicate the group.
We know that Qornet Shehwan has become a nuisance to the state, Harb told the daily An Nahar, and the Gathering was needlessly mentioned in the taped investigation of Hindi.

Harb said he was astonished at Syrian President Bashar Assads comments last week that he voiced support for President Emile Lahoud and army commander General Michel Sleiman.
This only shows that Syrian officials have a different way of looking at the Lebanese political system from the Lebanese themselves, said Harb. The Lebanese and Syrian perspectives are even contradictory.
The opposition leader said Parliament was undermined by the amendment of the Criminal Procedures Code because it was forcibly ratified by the majority of parliamentarians.
It is a shame that security services were able to affect Parliament during the vote, he said.
